The Boston Bruins came out sluggish in the first period of Sunday’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes, and that’s putting it nicely.
Following a rough overtime loss to the Ottawa Senators on Saturday, the B’s had a chance to swipe an easy two points from the bottom dwellers of the Eastern Conference, but it was their slow start that ultimately doomed them. The Bruins recorded just four shots on goal the entire first period, and it took the Black and Gold 16:55 to even register its first one.
It was an ugly 20 minutes, and NESN’s Billy Jaffe wasn’t impressed with what he saw.
“This is supposed to be desperate times. It calls for desperate measures. We’re just not seeing it right now from this team, and it’s discouraging.”
