BOSTON — Thursday’s game between the Bruins and New York Rangers at TD Garden featured plenty of physical play, two fights and a few questionable hits.

One of the fights occurred in the third period when B’s center Chris Kelly fought Rangers winger Chris Kreider after he boarded Bruins center Carl Soderberg along the end boards.

Kelly received an instigator penalty, a fighting major and a 10-minute misconduct, while Kreider was given a minor penalty for boarding and a fighting major.

“It’s just a reaction, I guess. It’s part of the game. You want to stick up for your teammates, and I like Carl,” Kelly said, laughing.

“I didn’t like the way Carl kind of went (into the boards), I saw him go in awkwardly.”

Soderberg was able to get up off the ice and remained in the game.

Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid and Rangers forward Tanner Glass also fought in the second period.
