It was a back-and-forth affair at Nassau Coliseum, but the Boston Bruins got the last laugh.
Boston blew a two-goal lead in the second period but scored three consecutive goals after that to earn a 5-2 win over the New York Islanders on Thursday night.
While head coach Claude Julien understandably wasn’t pleased that his team let New York back in the game, he still praised his skaters for bouncing back and closing the game out on a high note to earn their seventh win in nine games.
“We kind of got our game going near the end of the second period and finished at least better, and in the third period I liked our response,” Julien told Jack Edwards and Andy Brickley after the game. “We got out there and finished it well.”
