Heat’s Hassan Whiteside Dominates Bulls With 12 Blocks, Triple-Double

World, say hello to Hassan Whiteside.

The Miami Heat big man, whom most casual NBA fans probably hadn’t heard of until this weekend, looked like the second coming of Dikembe Mutombo and Hakeem Olajuwon on Sunday.

Whiteside finished with 14 points, 13 rebounds and 12 blocks in a win over the Chicago Bulls — and he needed just 25 minutes to do so. The last guy to block that many shots in that few minutes? Manute Bol, way back in 1989.

Whiteside has played in just 36 career games since breaking into the league with the Sacramento Kings during the 2010-11 season, but he’s quietly become an important contributor for the Heat since the calendar flipped to 2015. Out of the nine games he’s played in January, the Marshall product has scored in double figures in eight, recorded double-doubles in four and blocked five or more shots in three.

He’s hoping the folks over at 2K Sports take notice.
