Things got ugly in a hurry for Jameis Winston and Florida State at the Rose Bowl, and not even the referee was spared from the carnage.

Winston’s No. 3 Seminoles already trailed No. 2 Oregon by 19 points in the third quarter when the former Heisman Trophy winner dropped back to pass. After Winston felt heat from the Ducks’ pass rush, an unknown force suddenly freed the ball from his grasp, and Oregon linebacker Tony Washington did the rest.

That same unknown force apparently didn’t spare the referee, who took a hilarious tumble as Washington raced past him on his way to a 58-yard touchdown.

Florida State had been the king of the comeback all season, but it seems Oregon didn’t get the memo, as it poured on 14 more points after Washington’s score and coasted to a 59-20 blowout win to snap the Seminoles’ 29-game winning streak.

The Ducks will play the winner of No. 1 Alabama and No. 4 Ohio State, who square off in the Sugar Bowl on Thursday night.

As for Winston’s counterpart, 2014 Heisman winner Marcus Mariota racked up 400 total yards and three touchdowns before being replaced by backup quarterback Jeff Lockie. Advantage Marcus.
