The New York Jets’ list of candidates for their vacant general manager job now includes a former longtime member of the New England Patriots’ front office.
The Jets announced Wednesday that they have scheduled an interview with Tampa Bay Buccaneers director of player personnel Jon Robinson.
Robinson joined the Bucs in 2014 after spending 12 seasons in the Patriots’ scouting department. After joining New England as an area scout in 2002, Robinson rose through the ranks and took over as director of college scouting in 2009.
During his four-year tenure at the position from 2009-13, Robinson helped oversee the Patriots’ drafting of wide receiver Julian Edelman, defensive back Devin McCourty, tight end Rob Gronkowski, tackle Nate Solder and defensive end Chandler Jones, among others.
New York already has interviewed six candidates for the position since firing John Idzik on Dec. 29. The Jets’ website has a full list of candidates for the job, but the team has yet to announce a timetable for the remainder of its search.
