Jonny Gomes is headed to Atlanta.

The Braves confirmed Thursday that they signed the former Boston Red Sox outfielder to a one-year contract with a vesting option for 2016. ESPN.com’s Jerry Crasnick reported that the deal is worth $4 million.

The Red Sox signed Gomes prior to the 2013 season, and although he wasn’t one of the team’s top performers, his timely hitting and clubhouse presence played a significant role in Boston’s World Series win.

Boston traded Gomes — along with ace Jon Lester — to the Oakland Athletics at last season’s non-waiver trade deadline. Gomes batted .234 with 37 RBIs in 2014 between Boston and Oakland.
