Rex Ryan was just fired by the New York Jets and now is the head coach of their AFC East rivals, the Buffalo Bills. So which team does he have it out for in 2015?
The New England Patriots, of course.
Ryan kicked off his tenure in Buffalo with an introductory press conference Wednesday, and it didn’t take long before he admitted what was near the top of his to-do list.
“I’ll be honest: I think it’s still the Patriots that I want the most,” Ryan said, via ESPN.com.
“We’re not afraid of anybody,” Ryan added. “Certainly not afraid of (the Patriots). I respect them, I recognize the fact that they’ve won our division the last six years — I think 10 out of the last 11 years they’ve won our division — but that doesn’t guarantee they’re going to win it next year.”
New team, same old Rex.
Ryan’s hatred for the Patriots is well-documented, but he still had plenty of ire left to direct toward the team that reportedly already has selected his replacement.
“Yes, it’s personal,” Ryan said about the Jets firing him, via the Associated Press. “It’s embarrassing.”
“My message to the players is (to) get ready,” Ryan said. “We’re going to be playing games in January and so forth. We’re going to build a bully, and we’re going to see if you’re going to play us for 60 minutes.”
We’re sure the Patriots will be happy to oblige.
