EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — New York Giants rookie wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is going to the 2015 Pro Bowl.
The NFL announced Wednesday that Beckham has been chosen to replace injured Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson in the Jan. 25 game in Glendale, Ariz.
Beckham, who had 91 catches for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns in just 12 games, was a first alternate for the NFL’s all-star game. He is the first Giants rookie to play in the Pro Bowl since tight end Jeremy Shockey in 2002, and the team’s first wide receiver in the game since Steve Smith in 2009.
The 12th pick overall in the 2014 draft, Beckham finished the season with four consecutive games with at least 130 yards receiving and a touchdown, seven games with over 100 yards receiving total and nine consecutive games with 90 or more yards receiving. The latter tied Michael Irvin’s NFL mark, set in 1995.
