FOXBORO, Mass. — You know things are going well when James Develin is scoring touchdowns.

The New England Patriots got off to a hot start in Sunday’s AFC Championship Game against the Indianapolis Colts at Gillette Stadium and were knocking on the door with a seven-point lead near the end of the first quarter.

That’s when Bill Belichick decided to unleash his secret weapon: fullback James Develin.

Most players would have been stopped short of the goal line, but the 6-foot-3, 255-pound Brown product is no ordinary player, and he rumbled in after snagging Tom Brady’s pass to earn the first receiving touchdown of his NFL career.

In fact, Develin’s impressive score was just his second career TD overall. His first came on a 1-yard plunge against the Houston Texans in 2013.

Develin’s touchdown gave the Patriots a 14-point lead at the end of the first quarter and gave hope to hard-hitting, neck roll-wearing fullbacks everywhere.
