CHANDLER, Ariz. — Julian Edelman knows the key to keeping any bromance fresh is to throw in a few barbs every once in a while.
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, 37, might not be happy to hear how old his No. 1 receiver thinks he is.
“TB throws a pretty ball and is constantly working to try to improve that,” Edelman said Wednesday at the team hotel. “I mean, it’s unbelievable to see. What is he, 40, 42? And he still has a quarterback coach come out and coach him up all the time. He’s always working on his fundamentals. It just shows guys like me, guys who are younger, that you have to put the work in, and Tommy does that. That’s why he is one of our leaders.”
Edelman apparently also knows that the best compliments usually are backhanded.
Maybe he’s still a little ticked that Brady turned down his offer to help him make “The Best Friend Smoothie.”
