Paul Pierce Rooting ‘Hard’ For Patriots, Has Never Deflated Basketball

Paul Pierce doesn’t have an NFL team in Los Angeles to root for anymore, so he’s gone all-in with the New England Patriots.

The former Boston Celtics forward and official Pats convert has been following New England’s run to Super Bowl XLIX “religiously” and is pulling for quarterback Tom Brady to get a fourth championship to “cement his legacy,” he told CSNNE’s Gary Tanguay.

Just don’t expect Pierce, now with the Washington Wizards, to emulate every (alleged) aspect of the Patriots’ success.

“I’ve never told (a ball boy) to deflate a basketball,” Pierce said. “It probably wouldn’t work out too well in hoops.”

Pierce and the Wizards were in Phoenix on Thursday to take on the Suns, but he won’t be able to stick around for the big game Sunday. The Wizards are due back in the nation’s capital Saturday to host the Toronto Raptors.
