Rajon Rondo’s departure from Boston was rather fitting.

Rondo, who once labeled himself a nap-time decision, revealed Friday that he was taking an afternoon nap when Boston Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge called the point guard last month to inform him he had been traded to the Dallas Mavericks.

“I woke up and I (saw) Danny popped up (on my cell phone), so I was like, ‘Oh, (expletive),'” Rondo told reporters Friday after the Mavericks’ shootaround at TD Garden. “That’s when it happened. He called me and told me to come out to the facility and it happened.”

Rondo will face his former team in Boston for the first time Friday night. The 28-year-old is expecting an emotional scene, as his eight-plus seasons with the Celtics certainly featured some memorable moments, including an NBA championship in 2008.

Hopefully, he’ll be well-rested.
