After a few days of haggling, it appears the Jeff Green trade finally is a done deal.
The Boston Celtics, Memphis Grizzlies and New Orleans Pelicans agreed to terms Sunday on a three-team deal that will send Green to Memphis, sources told Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski. The trade reportedly will be made official Monday.
As part of the deal, the Celtics will receive swingman Tayshaun Prince and a future first-round pick from the Grizzlies and point guard Austin Rivers from the Pelicans. The pick likely will be in the 2019 draft, per Wojnarowski’s sources.
Rivers more than likely never will play a game for the Celtics, as multiple outlets have reported that the team already is trying to move him, possibly to the Los Angeles Clippers, whom his father, Doc Rivers, coaches.
To round out the trade, Memphis reportedly will send forward Quincy Pondexter and a 2015 second-round pick to New Orleans, and the Pelicans will ship guard Russ Smith to the Grizzlies.
Green was held out of each of the Celtics’ two games over the weekend. The forward departs as the team’s leading scorer this season, having averaged 17.6 points over 33 games.
