Marshawn Lynch might not have avoided a fine after all.

The Seattle Seahawks running back fulfilled his obligation by showing up to Super Bowl Media Day, but he still could get docked for wearing an unauthorized “Beast Mode” hat during his brief appearance, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Darren Rovell.

“Sources tell ESPN that, after the Super Bowl, the league will review whether the hat Lynch wore during the event was permissible,” Schefter writes. “If the league rules that Lynch used Media Day to promote a brand that was not approved by the league, he could face a significant fine.

Schefter points out there is precedent for this, as the NFL fined former Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher $100,000 for wearing a Vitamin Water hat during a 2007 Super Bowl appearance. The league has a deal with Gatorade.

Lynch, who rattled off “I’m just here so I don’t get fined” almost 30 times during his four and a half minutes at the podium Tuesday, already was slapped with a $100,000 fine earlier this season for not talking to the media. He also has earned two other fines for making an inappropriate gesture after his touchdown celebrations.
