At least one member of the Seattle Seahawks isn’t buying DeflateGate.
Seattle defensive lineman Michael Bennett is sick of talking about everything having to do with the New England Patriots and how much air is in their footballs.
“I mean, I think it’s all propaganda, man,” he said Sunday, according to NFL.com. “Just to get a chance to blow the game up, is all. Inflating the game right now. Just to make it even more … than what it’s really about. I think a lot of people are shying away from that aspect of it.”
First of all, those are a couple of well-used puns in the middle of that rant. Secondly, it’s hard to argue with Bennett’s point that the story has taken some of the focus from the actual, you know, football game.
However, as we enter the week before the Super Bowl, Bennett hopes the focus shifts to what happens on the field Sunday between his Seahawks and the Patrits.
“The Patriots are arguably one of the best teams of this decade, and we’re starting to — trying to — catch up to where they’re at, to what they’ve done the last 10 years,” Bennett said, according to NFL.com. “And Bill Belichick is one of the best coaches of all time, so I think people are forgetting that. The coaches going and the players playing — it’s too much about the balls and stuff. Hopefully everybody starts talking about the game again.”
One player who doesn’t seem to mind talking about the controversy is Seattle cornerback Richard Sherman who had some pointed words about DeflateGate over the weekend.
