By now, the only ones who haven’t heard about DeflateGate are your 5-year-old kids.

Scratch that. Now everyone has heard about DeflateGate.

The media frenzy surrounding the NFL’s investigation of the New England Patriots using under-inflated footballs during the AFC Championship Game has ballooned to absurd proportions. How do we know this? Even the children’s show “Sesame Street” is joining the fun.

Yes, that “Sesame Street.”

We know what you’re thinking: Hey, maybe the show’s decision to make its word of the day “inflate” had nothing to do with the entire country constantly talking about the air pressure in footballs.

Except this episode originally aired in April 2013, and they decided to show the re-run Friday morning. Well played, “Sesame Street.”

On the bright side, maybe we can avoid scandals like this in the future now that our nation’s youth is educated about properly inflated sports equipment.
