Dale Arnold said it best: “Don’t leave 91 alone near the net.”

Tampa Bay Lightning center Steven Stamkos scored in the first period against the Boston Bruins on Tuesday, giving him 24 goals on the season and sole possession of third place among the NHL’s leaders in goals.

Stamkos was able to put the puck in the net thanks in part to some sloppy Bruins defense. After the Lightning tripped up the B’s in the neutral zone, Boston defenseman Dennis Seidenberg found himself behind the net as Tampa Bay entered the Boston zone. Seidenberg’s poor positioning left a hole for Stamkos to slip the puck past Tuukka Rask.

And if that wasn’t good enough, Stamkos tallied another goal in the second period.
