CHANDLER, Ariz. — The New England Patriots will play the Denver Broncos again next season, and Tom Brady hopes his old rival is on the other sideline.

Brady said Thursday at the Patriots team hotel that he doesn’t want Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning to retire.

“What a great player he’s been for this league,” Brady said. “He’s a great competitor, and I’ve been fortunate to play against him a bunch of times. I certainly hope he comes back, because the league will miss him if he doesn’t. That decision is up to him, and I’m sure it’s going to be up to whether he’s mentally and physically — that’s what he wants to do. I certainly hope he’s back.

The Patriots are getting prepared to play the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX — the same team that beat Manning’s Broncos in last year’s Super Bowl.
