Come April, there’ll be an Emmy winner crossing the finish line of the 2015 Boston Marathon.

The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute announced Monday that “Orange Is the New Black” star Uzo Aduba will join its team for the upcoming race. Aduba, who won the 2014 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Crazy Eyes, is a Medfield, Mass., native and was a top sprinter at Boston University.

“Running the Boston Marathon has been a lifelong dream, and I am proud to be supporting Dana-Farber as I make this dream come true on April 20,” Aduba said in a statement. “As someone who grew up outside of Boston, I’ve always respected Dana-Farber’s groundbreaking work in cancer research. I’m honored to be a member of their team, helping to raise money to further this work so that one day we may all live in a world without cancer.”

Aduba adds to Dana-Farber’s 500-plus person team, which hopes to raise $5.2 million for cancer research.
