Adam Silver Won’t Punish James Dolan: Knicks Owner Is ‘Consummate New Yorker’

NBA commissioner Adam Silver won’t be handing out any sanctions to James Dolan after the New York Knicks owner went off on a disgruntled fan in an email exchange.

Silver told the New York Post on Monday that he had no issue with the back-and-forth, during which Dolan accused the fan of being an alcoholic and advised him to “start rooting for the Nets because the Knicks don’t want you.”

“Jim is a consummate New Yorker,” Silver said. “Jim got an unkind email and responded with an unkind email.”

Dolan’s Knicks have received a great deal of criticism this season, and for good reason. With just 10 wins in their first 51 games, they’re on track for the worst finish in the franchise’s nearly 70-year history.
