Malcolm Butler’s interception to seal the New England Patriots’ Super Bowl XLIX win over the Seattle Seahawks will go down as one of the biggest plays in NFL history.

It’s also polarizing and multilayered.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll has received plenty of blame since Butler picked off Russell Wilson’s pass with 20 seconds remaining in Sunday’s big game. Wilson also has been criticized, though NFL quarterback Brady Quinn suggested in his analysis on FootballByFootball.com Tuesday that the Seahawks quarterback shouldn’t be blamed for what transpired in the closing moments.

Quinn’s very thorough and informative analysis gives an inside look at the fateful play that prevented the Seahawks from winning their second Super Bowl in as many years. He breaks down both teams’ approach in the final seconds, Wilson’s decision-making and Ricardo Lockette’s attempt to haul in the ill-advised pass toward the goal line.
