The Boston Bruins announced Monday that top-six center David Krejci will miss the next four to six weeks with a partially torn MCL in his left knee.
The injury occurred in a collision with St. Louis Blues forward Alexander Steen during the second period of Friday night’s game. Four weeks from the time of the injury is March 20 and six weeks is April 3, which means Krejci likely would return to the Bruins’ lineup before the Stanley Cup playoffs if there are no setbacks. The regular season ends April 11.
Krejci has tallied 26 points (seven goals, 19 assists) in 38 games this season. He also missed 20 games over the first three months of the season with undisclosed injuries.
Krejci’s latest injury should give young center Ryan Spooner an opportunity to solidify a roster spot in Boston. He was recalled last week and tallied an assist with four shots in Sunday’s 6-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks.
