BOSTON — The Bruins honored the Super Bowl XLIX champion New England Patriots at TD Garden on Saturday night.

Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, linebackers Rob Ninkovich and Chandler Jones, and offensive lineman Nate Solder were among several New England players who were welcomed to center ice for a ceremonial puck drop before the B’s played the New York Islanders.

Ninkovich dropped the puck between Bruins captain Zdeno Chara and Isles captain John Tavares.

At the end of the ceremony, Gronkowski did his trademark spike, this time with a hockey puck. He spiked the puck into the ice with so much force that it bounced over the glass and into the crowd.

Ninkovich and Gronkowski also posed for a photo with Bruins president Cam Neely and the Lombardi Trophy before Saturday’s game.

The Patriots won their fourth championship in a 28-24 win over the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX on Feb. 1.
