Patrice Bergeron is the new face of the Boston Bruins’ “Cuts For A Cause.”
Bergeron and 98.5 The Sports Hub’s “Toucher and Rich” program announced Monday morning that the Bruins forward will assume hosting duties for the annual event. Former Bruins enforcer Shawn Thornton hosted the event in years past, but the veteran signed with the Florida Panthers in the offseason.
This year’s event will take place Tuesday, March 24, at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel, as fans will bid on the chance to cut the hair of their favorite Bruins players, with proceeds going to the Boston Bruins Foundation and Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center. Last year’s event raised more than $118,000, and more than $360,000 has been raised over the past seven years.
Fans can buy tickets to the event on the Bruins’ official website and in coming weeks will be able to bid on the Bruins whose hair they want to cut.
