New England Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler didn’t win MVP of Super Bowl XLIX, but he’ll still receive a new Chevy truck.

Brady was awarded a red truck from Chevrolet after winning his third career Super Bowl MVP award for his performance against the Seattle Seahawks. The Patriots quarterback completed a Super Bowl-record 37 passes for 328 yards and four touchdowns Sunday night.

Butler made the most important play, though, when he intercepted Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson’s pass at the goal line as it appeared Seattle would take the lead with less than 30 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.

Brady expressed his desire to give the truck to Butler, and Chevy directly doing it will allow the quarterback to avoid the hefty gift tax.

UPDATE (6:50 p.m.): Chevy spokesman Michael Albano told ESPN’s Darren Rovell that Butler will receive the truck Tuesday somewhere in the Boston area. A tax expert told Rovell that Butler will have to pay taxes on the $35,000 truck, which will count as income.
