Rajon Rondo’s transition with the Dallas Mavericks has been bumpy, and now fate has added injury to insult for the former Boston Celtics point guard.

Rondo suffered an orbital fracture above his left eye and a broken nose in Saturday’s game against the Orlando Magic, the Mavericks announced Monday. He will miss at least three games, according to the team.

Rondo was injured when he tripped while playing defense, and teammate Richard Jefferson’s knee accidentally collided with Rondo’s face. Blood spurting from his nose, Rondo was removed from the game and did not return.

Ouch.
