BOSTON — Bruins forward Milan Lucic grew up in Vancouver, a city with a growing Seattle Seahawks fanbase, but he will be rooting for the New England Patriots to win Super Bowl XLIX on Sunday.

“I hope that it’s going to be a good game,” Lucic said after Saturday night’s 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings at TD Garden. “Obviously, the two top teams of each conference going at it in the Super Bowl.

“The ‘Legion of Boom’ there is going strong the last five, six games of the season right into the playoffs. So, I think that’s going to be a challenge for the Patriots but as far as the Patriots go, they’re looking real healthy right now and that’s a huge asset for them. Obviously, being a Patriots fan I think they’re going to pull it out and bring a fourth Super Bowl here to New England.”

Each of the five Super Bowl games that the Patriots have played in during the Tom Brady and Bill Belichick era were decided by four points or less. Lucic believes Sunday’s Patriots-Seahawks showdown also will be a close game.

“I said 28-21 the other day so I’ve got to stick with that,” Lucic said when asked for a score prediction. “I’m leaning more towards a like 27-24, 24-21 type of game.”

Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski won the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year award Saturday night, and he’s also Lucic’s pick for Super Bowl MVP.

“I’ve gotta go with Gronk,” he said.
