Red Sox's Jackie Bradley Jr. Plans To 'Go All Marshawn Lynch' In 2015

JBJ plans to channel his inner Beast Mode in 2015.

Jackie Bradley Jr., who’s coming off a disappointing 2014 season, already is working out at the Boston Red Sox’s spring training complex in Fort Myers, Fla. The outfielder intends to let his on-field production do the talking this season, much like the Seattle Seahawks’ Pro Bowl running back.

“I’m going to go all Marshawn Lynch this year,” Bradley told WEEI.com’s Rob Bradford after a workout Tuesday in Fort Myers.

Lynch, of course, made waves this NFL season by shunning the media. The league determined Wednesday that Lynch fulfilled his media obligations in the lead-up to Seattle’s Super Bowl XLIX loss to the New England Patriots, but his responses were anything but accommodating. Lynch told reporters at Super Bowl Media Day in Arizona last week that he was only present so he wouldn’t get fined.

Bradley might not go to that extreme as he looks to win a major league job. It’s likely the 24-year-old will begin this season at Triple-A Pawtucket, though, meaning he’ll need to improve upon last season’s struggles to garner another big league opportunity with Boston. The best way to accomplish that goal, according to Bradley, is to block the outside noise and direct all of his energy toward the field.

“I just focus on me. I have to do what I’ve got to do. I don’t even talk about it to anybody,” Bradley told Bradford. “Action speaks louder than words, and that’s pretty much how this whole year is going to be. I won’t have much to say. I’m just going to go out there and take care of business.”

Bradley has been in and around JetBlue Park for more than a month, according to Bradford. He often works out for more than three hours a day, focusing on a variety of activities. The hype surrounding Bradley has died considerably since spring training 2013, but a persistent — and quieter — Bradley is passionate about reentering the major league discussion over the next few months.

“Action, not words,” Bradley told Bradford. “Words are gone now this year. Put up or shut up.”

Lynch has been putting up. Perhaps it’s Bradley’s turn.
