It takes two to trade, and the Boston Celtics are having trouble finding partners.
With Thursday’s NBA trade deadline closing in, the Boston Herald’s Steve Bulpett reported Wednesday that the Celtics are nowhere close to swinging a deal.
“As of (Tuesday) night, there have been, according to several league sources, no bites, or even much of a nibble,” Bulpett writes.
Bulpett notes that teams remain interested in Tayshaun Prince, Marcus Thornton and Brandon Bass — the three Celtics most likely to be moved — but that “the Celts and those clubs have yet to engage in anything remotely resembling a substantive discussion.”
Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge is, per Bulpett’s sources, unwilling to lower his asking price for the three veterans and content with keeping Boston’s roster intact for the rest of the season if need be.

— The buzz about the Celtics’ reported interest in Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins “appears to be simply the product of speculation,” Bulpett writes.
“I don’t think the Kings are going to trade him,” one general manager told the Herald.
— Potential trades for Denver Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson or Utah Jazz center Enes Kanter seem unlikely, as well.
“What the C’s are said to be willing to offer for either is well less than what the Nuggets and Jazz would want in return,” Bulpett writes.
