It might be time to table the retirement talk.

Peyton Manning is working out in New Orleans with an eye toward returning to the Denver Broncos for another season in 2015, NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday, per a team source. The 38-year-old quarterback reportedly is testing himself physically before making a decision regarding his NFL future.

Manning faltered late in the 2014 season while battling a thigh injury. He also is awaiting medical evaluations on his surgically repaired neck, according to The Times-Picayune’s Jeff Duncan. But Manning is expected to work with renowned strength and conditioning coach Mackie Shilstone this week, two sources told Duncan, and the future Hall of Famer could return for an 18th NFL season despite rumblings he might retire.

Manning plans to talk with Broncos general manager John Elway and president/CEO Joe Ellis before making a final decision on whether he’ll return, a source told Duncan. That conversation could occur this week, meaning we might soon know Manning’s intention after weeks of speculation.

Manning, the oldest starting quarterback in the NFL, will turn 39 in March. He’s set to make $19 million next season, which would be his fourth campaign with Denver after 14 seasons with the Indianapolis Colts.
