Richie Incognito, Buffalo Bills Could End Up Being Perfect Match

Rex Ryan is making it clear what kind of culture he wants to foster in Buffalo.

The new Bills head coach made the first big splash of his tenure when his team signed offensive guard Richie Incognito.

The addition was an eye-opener given Incognito’s checkered past stemming from his role in a bullying scandal in Miami. However, Ryan is trying to quite literally “build a bully” in western New York, and Incognito certainly fits the mold.

The addition of Incognito makes sense on more than one level, though. Former NFL linebacker Brady Poppinga wrote Monday on FootballByFootball.com that Incognito’s skils as a blocker are only part of what he brings to the table.

“Because Incognito was a cast-off, he will come to Buffalo with a big chip on his shoulder,” Poppinga wrote. “He will want to prove he has moved on from the incident in Miami. If he can play like he used to as a mauler in the run game, this signing may turn out to be one of the key acquisitions of Ryan’s era in Buffalo.”
