MLB players must have some pretty creative parents.
We’ve seen countless pitchers and hitters come and go over the years, standing out or fading into obscurity based on their big-league success. Every once in a while, though, a player comes into the league with the added recognition (or, in some cases, burden) of something he’s had since he was born: His name.
Ever since Butts Wagner entered the league in 1898 determined not to be on the wrong end of a joke, baseball has seen a cornucopia of oddly named players roll through its ranks. So even if you don’t have a hot date for Valentine’s Day, just remember this: At least your loving parents didn’t give you one of these crazy names.
