Seton Hall’s Sterling Gibbs Punches Villanova Player In Head (Video)

Sterling Gibbs made a really bad decision Monday night.

The Seton Hall guard was ejected late in a game against Villanova after he was given a Flagrant 2 foul for punching Wildcats guard Ryan Arcidiacono in the head. The two were in a scramble for a loose ball on the floor, and Gibbs hit Arcidiacono with a no-so-subtle closed fist to the forehead.

The punch earned Gibbs an ejection and likely a pretty hefty suspension.

However, it’s what happened after the game that has people talking just as much. Shortly after the game finished, Gibbs took to Twitter — not to defend his actions or anything like that. Instead, Gibbs sent out a series of tweets apologizing to everyone involved with the situation, most notably Arcidiacono.

Just as impressive was Arcidiacono’s response to the apology, as he accepted it and essentially said the incident already was water under the bridge.

Coincidentally, Arcidiacono scored his 1,000th career point in the sixth-ranked Wildcats’ 80-54 blowout win.
