Editor’s note: NESN’s Tom Caron is on the 50-member USCHO ranking committee, and you can find his votes on the college hockey week that was every Monday on NESN.com.

Things are a little bit different this year in New England college hockey.

The relentless winter weather has postponed the Beanpot finals not once but twice, and the annual tournament finally will be settled Monday night at TD Garden — much later than we’re accustomed to seeing.

The Boston University Terriers will look to continue their longstanding dominance of the tournament when they take on Northeastern. There’s more than bragging rights on the line for both clubs. The teams are jockeying for position in Hockey East standings, and there also are spots to be gained in the USCHO national rankings.

NESN’s Tom Caron has Boston University slipping ever so slightly in his weekly USCHO ballot, as Northeastern remains on the outside looking in. However, the Huskies received votes in the national poll, and a win Monday night could help them break into the top 20.
