Of the many ways to react to a hard foul, Shab Kahn should have chosen another one.

Kahn, a player on Conference North (English lower leagues) club Worcester City, nearly sparked a brawl Saturday when he bodyslammed an opponent in his team’s 2-0 win over Stockport County.

Stockport midfielder Charlie Russell floored Kahn with a heavy challenge on the sideline with five minutes of normal time remaining. Instead of allowing the referee to administer justice, Kahn took matters into his own hands — literally. The former Pakistan international picked up Russell and bodyslammed to the ground.

Kahn’s slam set off a melee. After restoring order, the referee showed Kahn a red card for the slam and Russell a yellow card for his challenge.

Kahn’s dismissal reduced Worcester City to 10 players, but it held on for the victory.
