The Boston College Eagles lost their Hockey East playoff series, but goalie Thatcher Demko might have made the play of the year in a losing effort.

The Eagles were shocked when they were upended by the University of Vermont on Sunday night, as UVM took the do-or-die Game 3 battle in Chestnut Hill. The Catamounts wound up with a stunning 1-0 win, but it could have been worse had it not been for Demko.

The Boston College backstop made 22 saves in the losing effort, but none was greater than the diving, sprawling save he made on UVM’s Mike Stenerson. The Vancouver Canucks prospect had to go back across the crease and make a full extension to make the sensational glove save.
