Bill Belichick’s trip through the South included a stop to see college basketball’s top powerhouse.
On Tuesday afternoon, Belichick was in Alabama for Auburn’s pro day, apparently keeping a close eye on Tigers wide receiver Sammie Coates. On Tuesday night, however, it was time to unwind a little bit as the New England Patriots head coach took in a hoops matchup at the University of Georgia between the Bulldogs and the undefeated No. 1 University of Kentucky.
Belichick wasn’t the only celebrity on hand for the big clash, which Kentucky pulled away late to win. NBA legend Charles Barkley was also on hand, as the outspoken analyst hopped on the ESPN broadcast to do some color commentary. Belichick and Barkley met up with each other before the game and shared this somewhat awkward embrace.

The Belichick-Barkley relationship is nothing new. For whatever reason, Barkley visited the Patriots’ locker room after New England’s AFC divisional-round playoff win in 2014 and held court with the media, gushing about Belichick.
“When Bill Belichick and (Patriots quarterback) Tom Brady leave, y’all team is going to (expletive) suck,” Barkley told a group of reporters at the time.
