It’s a great time to be a young Boston Red Sox fan.

The team announced a number of new initiatives they’ll implement in 2015 in an effort to attract more kids to games. The Red Sox are eliminating the $30 fee for membership in Kid Nation — the team’s official club for fans 14 and under — as well as giving away 25,000 tickets to children who sign up. Fans can being signing up for the free membership and free tickets Monday on redsox.com/kidnation.

In addition, high school and college students (15 and older) with a valid student ID can purchase tickets for each regular-season home game for just $9. The tickets guarantee entry into standing room only sections, but the team will upgrade to seats when possible. The team also is unveiling a new entrance this season, “Gate K (for Kids),” which is located next to Gate B and will lead into the new kids concourse.

The concourse will be filled with games, entertainment, concessions and also be home to “Wally’s Clubhouse.” The indoor space will be open every game from the 3rd to the 7th inning.

“The point is simple: we want to do all we can to attract children to Fenway Park,” Red Sox president and CEO Larry Lucchino said. “We hope to do so at least three ways: First, by providing greater access to Red Sox games to children and students; second, by enhancing their experience at the ballpark; and third, by strengthening the game of baseball among the young in our community. We are blessed with an extraordinary fan base that comprises many boys and girls. We want to help ensure that they fall in love with baseball, just as their parents and grandparents did before them.”
