Bruins Announce Contract Extensions For Torey Krug, Reilly Smith

The Boston Bruins on Friday announced contract extensions for Torey Krug and Reilly Smith.

The Bruins announced they signed Krug to a one-year extension through next season with a salary cap hit of $3.4 million. The club signed Smith to a two-year extension for $3.425 million.

Both players were set to be restricted free agents following the 2014-15 season.

Smith, 23, was acquired by the Bruins in the 2013 trade that sent Tyler Seguin to the Dallas Stars. He enjoyed a solid first season with the Bruins, scoring 20 goals and adding 31 assists while playing in all 82 games. Smith has 12-23-35 toals in 63 games this year while skating on the team’s most effective line alongside Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand.

The 23-year-old Krug was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Bruins in 2012. The 2013-14 season marked Krug’s first full season as a pro, scoring 14 goals and adding 26 assists while also helping the Bruins revitalize the power player. He has 11-20-31 totals this season, including 10 power-play points.
