Sidney Crosby might want to keep his head on a swivel.

The Pittsburgh Penguins superstar usually steers clear of big hits and bruising defenders. In Sunday’s matchup against the Columbus Blue Jackets, however, Sid the Kid found himself on the wrong end of a crushing blow, courtesy of Jackets forward Ryan Johansen.

That sound you heard was the entire city of Pittsburgh gasping as its star player — whose concussions issues have been well-documented — got drilled at center ice. Crosby appeared no worse for wear, however, skating away unharmed in an eventual 5-3 Penguins win.

It’s worth noting that Crosby and the Jackets have a bit of recent history. In their last meeting on Feb. 20, the All-Star forward dropped the gloves with Columbus star Brandon Dubinsky after taking exception to a Dubinsky check.

If Johansen’s hit was any sort of retribution for Sidney’s scrap, it’s safe to say Crosby won’t be fighting again any time soon. Unless he wants to keep his head on a swivel again.
