Chip Kelly: Eagles Were Offered First-Round Draft Pick For Sam Bradford

Chip Kelly has reached a new level of crazy.

The Philadelphia Eagles coach has made some questionable moves this offseason — including trading top running back LeSean McCoy and starting quarterback Nick Foles, along with letting wide receiver Jeremy Maclin walk — and now he’s making some questionable comments.

Kelly claimed in a press conference Wednesday that the Eagles were offered a first-round draft pick for quarterback Sam Bradford, for whom Philly traded Foles, “this morning.” And people are skeptical of whether that could be true.

If a team really wanted Bradford so badly that it’d give up a first-rounder, it didn’t have to wait for the Eagles to acquire him. They could have just talked to the Rams while Bradford still was in St. Louis.

But wait, there’s more.

Kelly also said Philadelphia has no intention of trading up in the draft to land quarterback Marcus Mariota, as is the rumor in the NFL.

“I think that stuff’s crazy,” Kelly said, per CBS Sports. “We will never mortgage our future.”

OK, then.

At the end of the day, though, all of Kelly’s need to unabashedly endorse Bradford led to this gem of a quote, so I guess that’s … something.
