David Beckham finally has found his sidekick in the pitchman game.
Beckham and new “Late Late Show” host James Corden released a spoof underwear commercial Sunday night ahead of the retired soccer star’s Monday appearance on the show. Beckham and Corden’s figures contrast starkly, to say the least, but they pull off the buddy ad for imaginary underwear line “D&J Briefs” flawlessly.
Beckham’s commercials for his H&M underwear lines are famous on both sides of the Atlantic.
Guy Ritchie didn’t need to direct the D&J Briefs parody for it to become a hit. Corden’s asides and Beckham’s perplexed glances do the job.
The video already is making waves on the Internet, and American television audiences are bound to pay attention when it airs Monday.
