Ken Griffey Sr. Ken Griffey Jr.As young kids, many children dream of following in their fathers’ footsteps. Especially if their fathers are really, really good at baseball.

The game of baseball always has been a family affair, as fathers pass their passion to their sons by playing catch in the yard or watching games on TV together. In a few special cases, though, the two generations have taken that love to another level.

It all started back in 1903, when Jack Doscher followed in Herm Doscher’s footsteps to become the first son of a former MLB player to play in the major leagues. Years later, a young slugger named Ken Griffey Jr. made history when he was called up to the Seattle Mariners in 1989, joining Ken Griffey Sr. in 1990 as the first father-son combo to play in the majors at the same time.

The Doschers and the Griffeys led the way, but there have been plenty of impressive father-son duos who have made their mark on America’s pastime.
