Jabaal Sheard: Patriots’ Winning Culture Drove Me To Sign As Free Agent

Jabaal Sheard wants to win some football games. It appears he came to the right team.

The veteran pass rusher won just 20 games in four seasons with the Cleveland Browns, and Sheard said history of success played a large part in his decision to sign with the New England Patriots in free agency.

“Just the whole feel of winning,” Sheard told Patriots.com’s Jackie Brittain on Thursday. “As soon as I came here, I met with the coaches and the team. Being around the organization is that whole culture, feeling of winning.”

Sheard reportedly spent Tuesday night on a free-agent visit with the Patriots before deciding to sign Wednesday. He came away with the impression that the Patriots take a no-nonsense approach.

“It’s serious. It’s about business and getting the job done,” Sheard said.

Sheard likely will rotate with starters Chandler Jones and Rob Ninkovich at defensive end and outside linebacker. Sheard told Brittain he feels comfortable in both roles.
