This is how Liverpool fans want to see Mario Balotelli move in and around the box. Unfortunately, it’s the wrong kind of box.

A dog belonging to Balotelli’s friend, Leone Petrosyan, chased the Liverpool striker around a boxing ring Monday at his owner’s gym in Milan. Thankfully, someone had enough sense to record the encounter between Balotelli and the pooch, and the Italian uploaded the funny video to Instagram.

The video shows Petrosyan ordering his dog to chase Balotelli, who runs in and around the ring in an effort to evade his excited pursuer.

Balotelli, 24, is a noted lover of dogs, so it’s unclear why he didn’t stop running and greet Petrosyan’s pet.

Balotelli’s agent, Mino Raiola, said Friday that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is making his client a better player by asking him to run without the ball more than he has done at previous clubs in his career.

Balotelli might be applying Rodgers’ advice in the ring. Time will tell if he takes those skills back onto the field.
