Queens Park Rangers lost 3-1 to Crystal Palace on Saturday, but the final score wasn’t what had everyone talking.

With his team trailing 3-0 in the 83rd minute, QPR’s Matt Phillips unleashed a rocket from over 40 yards out that sailed over goalkeeperĀ Julian Speroni for an incredible goal.

The 24-year-old’sĀ frozen rope did little to change QPR’s fortunes, as it suffered its 19th loss in Premier League play and appears headed for relegation. Yet that didn’t stop Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew from raving about the goal after the game.

“From 25 or 30 years on a training ground, I can’t remember seeing a better goal on the training ground let alone on a match day,” Pardew said, via TeamTalk.com. “It puts it into context.”
