Brandon Browner has a chance to earn some extra cash on the open market.

The New England Patriots have informed the cornerback they won’t pick up his option, FOX Sports’ Mike Garafolo reported Tuesday. Browner now is a free agent.

Browner was due a $2 million roster bonus Tuesday at 4 p.m. He was going to count $5.5 million against the Patriots’ salary cap in 2015. The Patriots will save $4.29 million in cap room by turning down the option.
