Report: Frank Gore Having Second Thoughts About Signing With Eagles

The same feet that made Frank Gore one of the NFL’s top running backs apparently have gotten cold when it comes to signing with the Philadelphia Eagles.

The free-agent running back reportedly agreed to join the Philadelphia Eagles after speaking with the club during the NFL’s legal tampering period. Gore was set to sign a contract with the club when free agency opened Tuesday afternoon. However, Gore has changed his mind.

NFL Media reported Monday night that Gore is having second thoughts about signing with the Eagles and has, at least for the time being, pulled out of that contract with Philly. According to that report and an ESPN.com report, the Indianapolis Colts have emerged as a suitor for the 31-year-old.

Gore is on the wrong side of 30, but he is coming off another solid season for the San Francisco 49ers. He ran for 1,106 yards on 255 carries in 2014, his fourth consecutive 1,000-yard season. Gore has reached that 1,000-yard mark in every season of his career other than his rookie campaign and 2010 where he only appeared in 11 games.

If Gore ends up in Indianapolis — or anywhere other than Philadelphia — the Eagles will need a new backup plan. Philly traded running back LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills last week for linebacker Kiko Alonso.

Gore’s change of heart also led to the production of this fantastic video tribute to his time with the Eagles.
