Add Chandler Jones’ name to the list of New England Patriots players who’ve had offseason repairs.
The defensive end currently is recovering from surgery, ESPN.com’s Mike Reiss reported Sunday.
According to Reiss, Jones has spent a lot of time this offseason in Foxboro rehabbing the injury, and he recently was seen walking on crutches. Reiss doesn’t specify the nature of the surgery, but Jones missed six games last season with a hip injury.
Reiss added he doesn’t “get the sense from those close to Jones that there is any significant long-range concern” about him. That being said, it’s still unclear how this will affect Jones once OTAs and training camp start later this year.
Despite being hampered by the hip injury for a good part of the season, Jones still was an effective member of the New England defense. The 25-year-old recorded six sacks, two pass deflections, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery during the 2014 regular season. He had a sack and seven tackles in the playoffs while helping the Patriots to a Super Bowl title.
